Leadership is for everyone
This report is the result of three years of listening, learning, and collaboration across Scotland’s health, social care, and social work sectors. It was shaped through:
Alignment with National Policy – The report draws on key frameworks such as Improving Wellbeing and Working Cultures, the Health and Social Care Service Renewal Framework, and the National Workforce Strategy, ensuring our work supports wider reform ambitions.
Continuous Engagement – Thousands of leaders contributed through events, evaluations, and co-design workshops, ensuring the report reflects real experiences and priorities.
Evidence and Insight – We combined qualitative feedback, case studies, and external evaluations with data from programme participation, tool usage, and engagement metrics.

Looking Forward
Reflecting on the last three years, the feedback that shows we have provided psychologically safe spaces, peer learning, and practical tools to support self-leadership and team impact inspire us to do more.
The feedback highlights high satisfaction and strong engagement, while insights show that confidence begins with self-awareness and grows through vulnerability, inclusion and trust. Our future plans include embedding confidence -building across all leadership pathways, expanding resources, and redefining delivery through ongoing evaluation.
These are exciting times for us and those who engage in this work with us.

Introduction to our Leadership Success Profile (LSP)
The purpose of the LSP is to underpin an inclusive approach which describes the leadership characteristics required to build inclusive cultures and to support the development of a diverse population of leaders.
It’s for all leaders apart from Chief Executives, those in Director level posts and those aspiring to these roles.
This blog, written by David Taylor, Principal Lead within the Leading to Change Delivery Team highlights what we have been hoping to achieve with the development of the LSP.
