This session was presented by Kirsty Pate, Programme Lead, Trauma Responsive Social Work Services. Kirsty took us though what trauma informed practice is and to understand it’s importance within not just social work, but also social care and health context.

We discussed the work that is being undertaken by the Trauma Responsive Social Work Services team as they deliver a programme of implementation support to four local authorities.

Kirsty Leads an extensive programme to ensure Scotland’s social work services are able to recognise where people are affected by psychological trauma, respond in ways which reduce the risks of further harm and supports recovery. Her work is recognised as contributing to local and national developments to improve experiences and outcomes for people in contact with social work services, and those that work within them.
