Welcome to our ‘Spotlight Sessions’ – events designed to raise awareness of an idea, approach or research that we believe could interest and inspire those involved in Social Work, Social Care, Health and related Third and Voluntary sectors. These sessions are open to all and recommended for anyone across all sectors interested in understanding more.

As Leading to Change, we are delivering a series of awareness sessions relating to core themes within Social Work and Social Care with the intention of ‘shining a light’ into the areas of the sector that others may know very little or nothing about.

We want to give people insights into roles and functions and the impact on ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ with a view to reinforcing the message about collaborative leadership and the difference it can make.

From policy to practice: what does it really take to embed system-wide change?

This session explores the journey of GIRFE (Getting it Right for Everyone), from its policy foundations and national development to its growing implementation across Scotland.

Colleagues from the Scottish Government will provide an overview of the GIRFE policy context, progress to date and future direction, while East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership will share their experience of embedding GIRFE at the front door of services.

Through practical examples and real-world learning, attendees will hear how integrated working, effective information sharing and continuous improvement are helping to change practice and culture to ensure people are supported by the right professional, in the right place, at the right time. The session will demonstrate how a Team Around the Person approach is enabling more coordinated decision-making, improving access to support, and helping services work together to achieve better outcomes for people and communities. Attendees will also learn about the GIRFE learning and development resources available through TURAS to support implementation and practice development.

This session will be of interest to anyone involved in shaping, leading or delivering services, offering practical examples of how GIRFE is supporting culture change, integration and better outcomes.
