Dr Nicola Harker
- Role:
- Bristol-based Doctor, speaker, and Executive and Leadership Coach
In the past, Nicola worked as an advisor to Macmillan Cancer Support alongside her work as a GP and Cancer Lead. Alongside her medical qualifications, Nicola is a trained teacher of Self-Compassion, a transformational coach, and has been involved in teaching and training throughout her career. She now coaches full-time. She is the author of publications in Psychologies Magazine, The British Medical Journal, and Nature.
In 2016, Nicola found herself heading into Burnout. She turned this experience into an opportunity to study and reflect deeply on the personal and organisational factors contributing to burnout. When she learned about self-compassion, she realised that these skills (that most of us resist) are incredibly useful for courageous leadership and has continued to fly the flag for Compassionate Leadership ever since. Nicola works with leaders and teams to help them cultivate compassion, avoid burnout, have more influence and clarity, and adopt high-performance habits. Her engaging and approachable style makes her a very popular speaker and coach, with consistently very positive feedback.
